RE:SCENT - Why Perfume Deserves a Second Life

RE:SCENT - Why Perfume Deserves a Second Life

Perfume is often treated as a disposable object - something we use, tire of, and quietly discard. Yet scent is one of the most emotionally loaded materials we interact with. It holds memory, identity, and time.Inside Oo La Lab, we believe fragrance deserves more intention.

RE:SCENT was conceived as a response to how quickly perfumes move in and out of our lives. People change. Tastes evolve. Memories shift. But that doesn’t mean a scent has lost its value.

Presented as part of Bangkok Design Week, RE:SCENT is not simply a perfume swap. It is a live, participatory exploration of fragrance circularity - where pre-loved scents are sampled, exchanged, archived, or re-interpreted through guided remixing.

By inviting participants to reflect on why a perfume no longer resonates, the session becomes a study of sensory identity rather than consumption. Some scents find new owners. Others are transformed through layering or subtle reformulation. Some are simply acknowledged and let go of with intention.

Sustainability in fragrance doesn’t need to be loud or moralising. Sometimes it begins with respect - for materials, for craft, and for the emotional life of scent.

RE:SCENT is our way of asking a simple question:
What if perfume wasn’t thrown away - but thoughtfully passed on, transformed, or remembered?
